Authorities said that Newark Airport's highly anticipated new terminal will be closed after the 2022 holiday season. Here's why. NEWARK, NJ — A highly anticipated new Newark Liberty International Airport terminal won’t be open in time for the 2022 holiday season, authorities said Monday. Last month, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey held a ribbon-cutting event for the airport’s brand-new Terminal A. The $2.7 billion renovation is the “largest design-build project in New Jersey history,” officials said.
